Artist Statement

Healing is any process that yields a healthy body and/or mental well being. In the pursuit of happiness and health we employ a variety of objects to heal us and bring us happiness. We choose to use certain objects as healing agents according to our own experiences, knowledge, and faith. We place confidence in objects and in the healing processes, validating them and giving them meaning in our lives.

The work I have been doing for last six years is commenting on the multitude of elements, which contribute to the healing process. What is it that heals us? Is it the process, the object, or the ritual? Is there any element that resides over all healing devices? My interest in responding to these issues is to expand people’s experiences, knowledge, and faith concerning healing objects and techniques. Drawing on the elements of desire, belief, and faith with viewers through objects and interactive performance.

In my most recent work I have been looking at the role of symbolic systems. My interest is in investigating how a specific symbol is understood as its context changes.
